With more states legalizing marijuana for medical and recreational use, there are renewed clinical and policy concerns about the mental health effects of the drug.

Here, at least, they acknowledge that “Although the study cannot establish a causal association [Emphasis mine] between using cannabis and the new onset of disorders, the authors conclude, “these adverse psychiatric outcomes should be taken under careful consideration in clinical care and policy planning..” ”

Oh, you can just feel how desperately they want to show cannabis to be harmful, causal, because cannabis is costing the pharmaceutical industry money.  In states that have legalized cannabis, opiate sales– the big pharma cash cow, which they virtually TRY to get people addicted, is down 25% as people self-medicate with cannabis.

Readers, remember to look at “studies” reported in the popular press with a jaundiced eye.  Usually, the “researchers” (often paid shills) are intentionally trying to demonize cannabis.  Critically reading and understanding that correlation and association do NOT mean causality, necessarily, will let you make better choices and not be misled by big pharma.
