Regular users of cannabis are less aware of their own mistakes, and they are not good at creative thinking, concludes new research on the effects of cannabis.

This gem of misinformation is as bogus as they get.  Quite the opposite, and I say this with personal observation.  Cannabis helps people think “outside the box” and this was one reason that Carl Sagan was an advocate.  Cannabis also helps visualization, which goes hand-in-hand with hypnosis and focus.

I will give the authors this much credit– you can’t force creativity, so the very nature of the assertion is bogus.  Cannabis intoxication is a solitary activity, whereas they tried to measure creativity in a group brainstorming session.  That’s now how cannabis works.  Cannabis is a hypnotic which lends itself to uncanny focus depths, but it is a solitary activity.  And, since the focus is difficult to control, and jumps widely, it simply is not conducive to group, guided, interactive thinking.
