“No stems, no seeds that you don’t need, Acapulco Gold is bad-ass weed”, to plagiarize a jingle from Cheech and Chong, almost 50 years ago.  Never mind stems and seeds, or even bad-ass weed, but learn about cannabidiol– CBD.  It is one of the main cannabinoids that is not psychoactive but has powerful medical properties.  It is a very good anti-inflammatory agent.  Many seniors use it in ointment for arthritic hands, elbows, shoulders, even backs.  CBD also has anti-cancer properties and while rumors and anecdotes abound, scientific research has shown it to be effective for gliomas– a specific type of brain cancer.  Now, it may be useful for eye and vision issues:

Is it merely prolonging the agony or is it a glimmer of hope?

There is a lot of anecodotal evidence as to cannabis action against cancers of various kinds.  And, this is furthere supported by scientific research showing that a type of brain cancer, glioma, is indeed killed by cannabis, in vitro, at least.

Until Big Pharms stops trying to interfere in research, and our politicians remove their heads from the lobbyist’s behinds, there can be no legal research in this country because cannabis is scheduled I, along with heroin, methamphetamine, and crack cocaine.

Research into which cannabinoids are effective will go a long way in treating cancer.  Maybe it’s time to rattle our representatives’ cages and insist that research into cannabis be allowed unimpeded.  The current scheduling is ridiculous, and the entire country knows that.

Absence of standards is the greatest concern.  Rick Simpson, who seems to have first announced the cannabis-cancer connection, advocated acclimating to massive doses of cannabis concentrates, but no one knows the appropriate amounts to prescribe.

When cannabinoids activate signaling pathways in cancer cells they can stimulate a cell death mechanism called apoptosis, unleashing a potent anti-tumor effect.

Rick Simpson was one of the first to identify cannabis’ anti-cancer properties anecdotally.  The regimen he touted was to ingest as much cannabis as possible, ramping up as tolerance increases.  He used concentrated cannabis oil to treat himself and others.

It is important to note that smoking it does not get enough of the cannabinoids into the body; it must be orally ingested.  Searching for Rick Simpson will find his regimen and commentary.
