According to a comprehensive review by the National Academy of Sciences, Institute of Medicine, “few marijuana users become dependent” upon pot. By contrast, those who drink alcohol are nearly twice as likely to do so problematically. Nonetheless, over half of all young people admitted to drug treatment programs are there for their involvement with marijuana, and this percentage is steadily rising. So what’s going on?

AuntieBS wrote about this scam in the past.  Some crooked person sets up a “Marijuana Rehab Facility”, then offers kickbacks to schools and law enforcement, who then give some kid caught with a joint a choice:  Jail or rehab.  The kid will, of course, choose the rehab.  Then, the scammer cites “Marijuana addiction rehab up 70%” or some nonsense, validating the “addictive” and/or “problematic” nature of marijuana.  It’s BS.

An important step has been taken toward a reliable marijuana breathalyzer by measuring the vapor pressure of delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) — a measurement that, due to the compound’s chemical structure, is very difficult and has not been accomplished before.

Imagine if this much effort was put into characterizing the properties and medical benefits of cannabis…  <sigh>

Memory performance decreases with increasing age. Cannabis can reverse these ageing processes in the brain. This was shown in mice by scientists at the University of Bonn with their colleagues at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Israel). Old animals were able to regress to the state of two-month-old mice with a prolonged low-dose treatment with a cannabis active ingredient. This opens up new options, for instance, when it comes to treating dementia.

The DEA must be upset.  Clearly, they ignore all the scientific evidence and pursue their own job-preserving ways, while they ruin people’s lives and stifle research.  And, Congress knows this (or are complete idiots) but has their lips firmly on Big Parma’s butt cheeks.  (Sigh)  When will we ever emerge from the dark ages?

The company is also under investigation for illegally marketing powerful opioid painkillers.

If this isn’t pure, unadulturated BULLSHIT to the Nth degree, I don’t know what is!  Let’s hope that Trump de-funds the DEA!  (I won’t hold my breath.)

Rumors are flying about whether the Trump administration will crack down on cannabis, but what’s the true story?

Source: Trump and Sessions Seem Focused on Cartels, Not Cannabis | Leafly

What if the DEA and CIA were the biggest drug dealers in the world, to fund black ops projects and enrich themselves?  Consider:  The Taliban wanted to eradicate opium cultivation in Afghanistan, on religious grounds.  Our government declares them to be the enemy and we send troops in to PROTECT the opium fields!?!?!?  What if the CIA then protected huge shipments of opium to clandestine cartel labs, where it was processed into heroin, with the cartels slipping $BILLIONS to the CIA for the wholesale of the raw product, and made many times that by flooding our markets with cheap heroin?

There have been such allegations in the press over the years, even back to Oliver North in the 1970’s, but how would civilians (reporters) ever confirm the truth?  It would be difficult.  Yet, this strong possibility looms.

The DEA finally dropped inaccurate and misleading claims from their official website. Next up, rescheduling?

AuntieBS has always been critical of the DEA, who lies through their teeth to preserve jobs, who has wasted more than a $TRILLION dollars in the bogus war on drugs, all the while enabling $5 hits of heroin and methamphetamine to be ubiquitous all across the country.  What’s the point of this useless agency?

There are at least nine good reasons why the tiny country is filling the void left by other major powers.

No one can deny that 2016 was a landmark year for marijuana legislation. Despite these gains, we must remain vigilant to protect the fragile progress that we have made and continue the fight for sane marijuana policy at the both the state and federal level to ensure that no citizen will ever again go to jail for choosing to consume marijuana.

We have won the hearts and minds of the majority of Americans and even in the shifting political climate we still must convince our elected officials to join us and support the will of the people on this issue. NORML chapters throughout the country are working to end prohibition and expand legal protections for marijuana consumers while the national NORML office in Washington, DC is working to lobby federal lawmakers, push our message out to national media, and organize supporters across the nation. But at its heart, NORML is only as strong as the people who support us and we NEED your help to fuel the movement.

The cannabis movement has a strong gust of wind at our backs and we must harbor and protect this momentum. Jeff Sessions as the Attorney General and other militant marijuana prohibitionists that are rumored to be joining the incoming Trump administration would personally wish for a return to the “Just Say No” and “reefer madness” days of state oppression and cannabis hysteria.

Regardless of their resistance, the train is still steaming ahead and measures to fully legalize, establish medical programs, and decriminalize possession are common in state legislatures across the nation. We are tracking legislation moving in every state and already over 500 bills dealing with marijuana have been filed.

NORML will, as we have since 1970, be on the front lines of advancing the rights of marijuana consumers in the eyes of the public and politicians alike. As a truly grassroots organization, we have sustained over the decades because of the diligent work and support of people just like you.

We don’t have a billionaire backer, but we do have something better…YOU. So far this year the average donation to NORML has been $35, ensuring we are answerable to no one but cannabis consumers (not outside interests or the marijuana industry).

Together we will end prohibition and protect responsible marijuana consumers from going to jail nationwide.

Thanks for fighting with us,
The NORML Team

P.S. In order to cross the finish line, the time to get involved and keep the momentum going is now. Find your local NORML chapter to find out how to help locally and in the meantime continue to call and email our state and federal officials in favor of pending marijuana reform legislation.

Thank God for a modicum of sanity.
